Atlas Of Marrakech

Our adventure begins in the 1000-year-old ochre city of Marrakech, where history and culture pulse through every alley. From here, we cycle through the ancient Medina, gradually making our way toward the majestic High Atlas Mountains.

Starting on the flat Haouz plains, the ride quickly intensifies as we ascend the steep and dramatic slopes of the Atlas, tackling some of Morocco’s highest roads.

As the miles unfold, you’ll traverse lush Berber valleys, rugged high plateaus, and timeless villages. Along the way, experience the authentic local way of life, discover unique architectural traditions, and immerse yourself in landscapes of unrivaled beauty and grandeur.

This is more than a cycling route — it’s a journey through Morocco’s soul, shaped by nature, history, and the enduring spirit of the Atlas.

Day 1: Marrakech

Upon arrival at Marrakesh Airport, you’ll be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel in the city.

If you’ve brought your own bike, we’ll accompany you to our workshop to assemble it and safely store your bike box until the end of your trip.

You’ll spend the night at a comfortable 3-star hotel, on a bed & breakfast basis — the perfect way to settle in and get ready for the adventure ahead.

The stage begins by weaving through the vibrant streets of Marrakesh, before joining the quieter road leading to Sidi Abdellah Gheyat. The first 37 km stretch is a pleasant, flat ride across the Haouz Plain, setting a smooth pace before the real challenge begins.

As you reach the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, a 10 km climb awaits, ascending to the high plateaus of Iguer. The effort is well rewarded with breathtaking views: snow-capped peaks towering above lush green terraces of barley and almond trees. The stone-built Berber villages, blending seamlessly into the landscape, offer an authentic glimpse of mountain life.

After one final, demanding ascent, the road meanders along the mountain contours, leading into an exhilarating, endless winding descent into the scenic Ourika Valley, where our cozy lodge awaits for the night.

Over the next 14 km, you’ll climb at a steady pace, gaining altitude while enjoying spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains and the scattered Berber villages nestled in the hills. The landscape unfolds with every turn, offering a stunning visual reward for your efforts.

At the Tizi n’Tadmamt Pass (1,813m), we reach the highest point of the day. From here, the route eases into a more relaxed section, contouring along the mountain slopes with panoramic views stretching northward to the Haouz Plains.

After passing Sidi Fares, prepare for a thrilling 10 km downhill ride to Asni, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. We’ll end the stage at a charming lodge, where you can relax and unwind.

This important spiritual destination attracts pilgrims from across the country.

At the highest point of the ride, we cross the magnificent limestone plateau, with the majestic, often snow-capped Toubkal peaks providing a dramatic backdrop. The journey across the terraces is dotted with traditional villages, each offering a glimpse into the enduring Berber way of life.

Reaching the western edge of the Kik Plateau, we embark on a long and exhilarating descent toward Takerkoust Lake, where our cycling adventure comes to an end. After packing the bikes, a short transfer brings us back to the vibrant energy of Marrakech.
